Mentoring

PAL currently has two full-time St. Petersburg Police Officers on-site every day to engage with our children. The St. Petersburg Police Department (SPPD) along with PAL believe our children should have positive interactions with the SPPD beginning at a young age. Therefore, Chief Holloway has worked in partnership with PAL to provide a mentor program. The program pairs children ages 9 to 14 with a St. Petersburg Police Officer.  They meet one-on-one, once a week for an hour giving our pre-teens an ally in the SPPD along with a broader perception of their support network within the community.  This school-year program culminates with a group community service project providing all participants with a greater sense of accomplishment and connection.
