Jessica is a St. Petersburg native who began working as an adjunct at St. Petersburg College in 2004. She earned her BS and MS in Special Education from Florida State University. Prior to her work at the college she was a classroom teacher of students with emotional, learning and significant cognitive disabilities. She became a mentor teacher and a consultant for the district modeling best practices in both behavior management and teaching curriculum. At that time, she also provided feedback and support to interns and practicum students while teaching as an adjunct for the University of South Florida and earning her Ph.D. She became a faculty member in the College of Education at St. Petersburg College in 2015. Her research interests include: the school to prison pipeline, girls who are at-risk and their school experiences, students of color and prior their school experiences, and how those experiences may or may not intersect with exceptional student education.

Jessica is married and has a son, daughter and an old dog. When she is not working or driving her children around, she loves the beach, swimming, trying the newest restaurants in town and watching college football.

Patrice Featherstone serves as a Sr. Employee and Labor Relations Manager for Johnson & Johnson.  In 2005, Patrice received her Master of Public Administration in Personnel Administration from North Carolina Central University, and earned her Juris Doctor in 2008 from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University College of Law.

In 2018, Patrice was recognized by the Tampa Bay Business Journal as a People First Honoree for her work in human resources.  Currently, Patrice serves on the Board of Directors for the St. Petersburg Police Athletic League and recently became a Senior Certified Professional by the Society of Human Resources Management.

Joe Fullerton is a Tax Manager in the Tampa Bay office of CBIZ MHM, LLC with 10 years of experience in public accounting, including over four years with a Big Four accounting firm. He has experience providing tax consulting and compliance solutions for a broad range of clients from tax provision services for corporate clients to tax preparation of flow through entities, family businesses, and high net worth individuals. Joe is an instructor for the firm’s National Level Training program for new associates and leads the office’s senior associate professional development program. Born and raised in Miami, FL, Joe attended the University of Florida where he earned his Bachelor of Science and Master’s Degree in Accounting and now lives in St. Petersburg with his wife and daughter.

Rick was born and raised in Seminole, Florida. Rick played for the 2002 St. Pete PAL baseball team that won the National PAL Baseball Tournament. His baseball career continued through a 3-year stint in the Washington Nationals organization. After baseball, Rick attended and graduated from Florida Coastal School of Law. Following 3 years with the State Attorney’s Office as a prosecutor, Rick currently owns a law office in Largo, Florida, practicing in the field of estate planning. Rick joined the PAL board because of his desire to help kids in the local community and admiration for law enforcement.

John Vigue is the Vice President of Sales & Marketing at Modern Mail & Print Solutions in Clearwater, FL.

Modern has been servicing the Tampa Bay area with mail and print services for over 44 years and John currently manages all new business and the marketing for the company.

John is a St. Petersburg native and former St. Pete PAL Baseball player.  John played his collegiate Baseball at the University of South Florida, where is also earned a Bachelors in Marketing.

John continued his baseball career with the Tampa Bay Devil Rays and then got into coaching both College and High School baseball.

John is married to Alissa Vigue and they are the proud parents of 2 daughters.  He enjoys coaching his daughters in all their sport endeavors and vacationing with the family.

John’s passion for PAL originates from his time as a kid serving at the PAL Baseball teams bat-boy for his father who was the coach, along with his time paying for PAL.  As a former PAL Athlete of the year recipient, John has always wanted to give back to PAL and has been able to as a member of the PAL Board.

Brian Ceras earned a Bachelor of Science from Florida State University, is a graduate of the Florida Bankers Association Graduate Trust School, Cannon Financial Institute’s Trust School and holds the designation of Certified Trust and Financial Advisor (CTFA). Brian has over fifteen years of experience in trust administration and investment management.

He is a graduate of Leadership St. Pete and committed to serving the St. Petersburg community. As a Past President and member of the Northeast Exchange Club, he is actively involved in improving the lives of children and in the prevention of child abuse. Brian is also a member of the Suncoast Estate Planning Council.

Charles Copley Gerdes was born and raised in Saint Petersburg, Fl.. He and his wife, Cecily Valenty Gerdes, were married in 2016 and have two children, Calley and Cade. Copley and his family are members at Pasadena Yacht and Country Club. They enjoy afternoons on the boat, playing golf, and spending time with their family. Both Cecily and Copley have a passion for wine and you can often find them enjoying a glass after the kids go to bed!

In 2011, I joined Northwestern Mutual as an Intern. I quickly became a Winter Camp attendee (Top 100 Interns during the 4th Quarter), and converted to a full-time Financial Representative. In 2013, I was named College Unit Director for the St. Pete district office and from there have become a Growth and Development Director. This new position allows to me to recruit and develop new advisors to our amazing firm while also running my personal practice. St. Pete is my hometown and I love the opportunity to help its citizens become financially secure while also helping people find their amazing future with Northwestern Mutual.

My Background

I have a very diverse professional background. I began as a religion major with an emphasis on Catholic Studies at Saint Leo University. While at Saint Leo, I was a two-sport Division II athlete, participating in baseball and swimming. After graduating in 2006, I took a graduate assistant position with the baseball team, and worked my way to recruiting coordinator. In 2008, I left Saint Leo for the business world. I became a Business Analyst with FrankCrum, Inc. in Clearwater, Fl. I handled a multitude of business-to-business situations including client on-boarding and retention. In 2010, I joined Keane, Reese, Vesely and Gerdes P.A. as Director of Special Projects. It was an amazing opportunity to work with my father, Charlie Gerdes, and see first-hand how a law office works.

“To inspire hope and support local families who have been impacted by pediatric cancer, and fund organizations that aspire to find a cure for these brave children.” We began this endeavor with a purpose specifically directed at supporting, and serving local families with a child undergoing treatment for pediatric cancer in the greater Tampa Bay area.

The Northwestern Mutual Community Action Committee works to enhance community involvement and our local brand through volunteer and fundraising efforts focused on supporting the mission of eradicating childhood cancer. We provide the Greater Tampa Bay community “with opportunities to raise money and awareness of childhood cancer causes, primarily research into new treatments and cures. We strive to encourage and empower others to get involved and make a difference for children with cancer.”

Tommy focuses on developing wealth accumulation strategies for affluent clients to help them pursue their financial goals. He takes the time to get to know clients in order to offer easy-to-understand, individualized wealth management solutions. Tommy makes client-centric recommendations based on specific asset allocations that reflect a client’s need for wealth preservation, growth and income. He holds a Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor (CRPC®) designation, which assists him in developing retirement planning strategies for professional athletes and high net worth clients.

A graduate of Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, Tommy earned a bachelor’s degree in American studies. He lives in St. Petersburg with his wife, Melissa, and their children Kaitlyn and Easton.

Julie joined Spoor Bunch Franz CPA in 2016 and has eleven years of experience in Tax and Advisory services.  She has experience in both public accounting and private industry specializing in tax compliance, tax planning, and financial accounting services. She’s passionate about and skilled at developing strong client relationships with the goal of streamlining their accounting function. Her experience also includes multi-state tax compliance and purchase accounting consulting.

Prior to her current position, Julie was employed by Grant Thornton, LLP where she focused on large publicly traded companies working closely with CFO’s to maximize efficiencies in their internal tax departments through software innovation and technology. In addition to tax compliance and consulting, Julie oversees the operations for our Tax and Advisory Services departments.

Julie recently joined the Board of Directors for the Police Athletic League of St. Petersburg. She graduated from Appalachian State University with her Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and Master’s Degree in Taxation. Julie and her husband currently reside in Tampa and outside of the office you can find them enjoying all the culinary delights the bay area has to offer.

Jeff Rettig is a senior manager with PwC and has been with the professional services firm for over 20 years.  He has spent the last five years in information security and technology governance, risk, and compliance functions.  Previously, Jeff led PwC teams in the IT operations and IT service management areas.  Jeff has numerous information security and IT governance certifications including CISSP, CCSP, CISM, CISA, CGEIT, CRISC, PMP, and ITIL Expert.

Jeff was introduced to St. Pete PAL through fellow PwC employee and prior board member Gregg Agard-Jones.  The PwC Tampa office’s history of support of PAL includes both monetary grants and programs such as skills for society, hour of code, and youth financial literacy education.

Prior to joining PwC, Jeff worked for GEBO Corporation in Sarasota, FL, deploying robotic automation systems in the US, Europe, and Canada.  Jeff holds an MS in engineering from the University of South Florida and a BS in mechanical engineering from the University of Cincinnati.  Jeff and wife Amy have lived in St. Petersburg for the last 25 years and love the Sunshine City.  They have one daughter, Nellie, who will be a 2021 graduate of St. Pete High School.
