Two years of tireless effort from our Board of Directors, the City of St. Petersburg, and our neighbors at the 20th St. Church of Christ bore fruit when approximately 150 adults and 100 children turned out for the Grand Opening of the new PAL Midtown location at 820 20th Street South on June 12th.
midtown-open1The Grand Opening Celebration included remarks from Mayor Rick Kriseman, 20th Street Church of Christ Associate Minister Larry Collins, Assistant Police Chief James Previtera, and PAL Board Member Timothy Walsh as well as a youth performance by PAL Good Girls Rock.
After the ribbon cutting ceremony, tours of the new facility and refreshments were served in the church.
The event was a great success, and we’re just getting started!
Over the course of the summer, 45 youngsters in the community participated in PAL programs in Midtown. So far this fall, 38 children are being served by our afternoon program, and that number is growing by the day.

We especially want to thank Nikki Capehart, City of St. Petersburg Director of Urban Affairs, the Tampa Bay Rays, BounceTel / RRFirearms.com, Modern Mail & Print Solutions, Caroline York Real Estate Co., Eddie Marry, Ron Ferrer (The Pizza Joint), Shari Swafford, and Janet Landt.
We also want to thank all of you who contributed generously to getting the Midtown location off the drawing board and into the community. Now, we need to focus on keeping that important work going.
